Appointment of an operations inspector

Under the Limited Liability Housing Companies Act, the Act on Right-of Occupancy Associations and the Co-operatives Act, a minority of shareholders or members as provided by law may also demand the appointment of an operations inspector in the corporate meeting. A shareholder or a member may submit an application to the Regional State Administrative Agency within one month of the meeting if an operations inspector was not appointed. A service fee will be charged from the applicant for the handling of the application.

The appointment of a company auditor was transferred to the Finnish Patent and Registration Office on 1 January 2016.

The Regional State Administrative Agency was able to appoint an auditor for a corporation that had not been appointed an auditor according to the law. Such companies included, for example, limited liability companies and limited liability housing companies. This assignment was transferred to the Finnish Patent and Registration Office under the new Auditing Act that entered into force on 1 January 2016.

Under the Auditing Act (http://www.finlex.fi/fi/laki/ajantasa/2015/20151141) that entered into force on 1 January 2016, the Finnish Patent and Registration Office becomes the competent supervisory authority in the field of auditing in Finland.
